Quilt or Lantern

Fudgy, roasty, cocoa with an underlying sweet caramel, toffee, date, and stone fruit hints supported by a resinous Chinook bitter that makes this big stout way too easy to drink for its size. Named in recognition of one of Pittsburgh's Underground Railroad stops, the Bigham House. The Bigham House was the Mt. Washington residence of abolitionist lawyer Thomas Bigham. A quilt or lantern hung from one of its spacious balconies could be seen from a distance signaling freedom seekers that they were safe to approach.
